Allow Custom Schema's within XMP metadata

You state that Nitro Pro supports PDF-A. Does this mean you support XMP which is an integral part of PDF-A? If so does this XMP capability allow a custom schema that can also be used with PDF-A or PDF? If so does it support custom picklists that can be used with particular properties?

    Hi Guys,

Sorry for the delay in responding to your post here, As you are undoubtedly both aware the PDF/A specification requires XMP data to be placed within the PDF file structure for compliance.

Nitro Pro and Reader allow PDF/A creation that complies with this specification and thus places the necessary XMP predefined schemas in place, like Title & Creator for example.

We do not however support custom schema's that would cover company or industry specific metadata requirements.

Nevens I have changed this post however into an 'Idea' which is used by our Product Management team when adding features to our products through updates.

Other users and yourself will be able to vote for this feature to be included and our Product Management team will be able to gauge our users need for this to be included.

Thank you both for your feedback and questions.

This would be usefull to include Creative Commons licensing data: http://wiki.creativecommons.org/XMP.
Unless there is another way to do that which I didn't find...
    Thanks

      Hi There,

XMP is a great way to include meta data and is something not currently supported in Nitro Pro or Reader. We do however provide the ability to add meta data, you can do this by right clicking on the PDF and viewing the Document Properties, here you can add details from Title to Subject, we also provide the ability to add custom details.

This process is highlighted below, the difference here is that the meta data is stored within the PDF structure under the Document Information Dictionary rather than using XMP which is becoming the norm for embedding meta data due to its cross platform adoption.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

      Cheers

      Alex
