This functionality in a free pdf reader would be great, currently pdf24 is the only free option that i have come across that offers such functionality.

But David, Michael was told he could get this feature free with pdf24. Somebody's doing it for free and that's what people jumping ship from Adobe need and want. Now that I installed Nitro and couldn't find a delete option I came looking for answers (the download page talks about all it can do but nowhere within the Nitro PDF Reader does it say there's a delete option in the Pro version). Ok, I was suckered in and see by your comment you need Pro. How convenient. Why bother leaving Adobe then? What real benefits of genuine substance (not cute little conveniences) does the:"free" Nitro PDF offer over Adobe Reader? We're trying to get away from Adobe with real, qualitive and useful features, so the ante needs to be substantial to expect a mass exodus.
Like any company that gives you a small incentive to come over to their side, in the end you simply become "their" slave, yet still a slave. Thanks for the "generous" offer to go to Pro for a silly feature others apparently offer for free. I just installed pdf24 Creator and deleted the page I wanted! The installer was half the size of Nitro, didn't ask to go on the internet 6 times (like Nitro...use a firewall people) and had my job done in 17 seconds from the time the document loaded.
Nice job Nitro, I'll pass my experience around (and that's "you're" doing). Good luck with the games. -

I fully agree. It is not worth $99 for the Pro version when the only extra pieces of functionality I use would be delete pages, rearrange pages and free form text fill in. Worth $5 to $10. But you would sell a ton at $5 - $10.

Merge, Delete, and Rearrange Pages can be done with the free on line PDF Hammer Application available at this site. ( http://www.nitropdf.com/free/hammer/i... ) . Why the folks at Nitro do not want to recommend this tool, but insist on recommending the paid Nitro Pro version, is a mystery to me. Doesn't sound like complete honesty in their sales practices to me.

Can you use this "hammer" to delete individual Words, Sentences etc?

Editing within pages is already included in the free Nitro PDF Reader, so PDF Hammer does not need to allow users to do this. I was only commenting on a page-by-page feature which the free Reader lacks without PDF Hammer.

I've been using Adobe Acrobat for years, due only to the fact that version 8.x came with my new laptop. The ability to merge and delete pages are great features, and seemed to only be available with paid version of PDF apps. Though Nitro Reader is a good Adobe reader alternative, I'm definitely going to give PDF24 a look.

Merging, removing, splitting, copying pages in PDF... for free: PDFTK Builder Portable
-
Thanks. Just got this. The help file says "PDFTK Builder is a GUI for the pdftk commandline utility" and implies that you have to download it separately, but PDFTK is included in the download anyway. The same utility for non-portable installation is at http://www.angusj.com/pdftkb/ but the portable one is the most recent version. It works! Nice one zoni011 :)

I do not like the Office 2007 Ribbon. It LOOKS ugly. On the other hand, the Office 2010 Ribbon is very clean and nice looking. I like the fact that nitro PDF reader uses Office 2010 theme. Unfortunately, I won't even consider switching to the professional version unless the ribbon of the pro version is upgraded from office 2007 to office 2010.

I have been using the paid (just a few bucks) version of PDFEDIT995 for some 4-5 years -- it allows the combine/extract of individual pdf documents. I believe the free version also has that capability. However, it does not have the notes and some other features of Nitro free, so looks like I will be using both programs.

I see Nitro have now closed their site Hammer and are making it fee paying!!!
Rip -Off!!-
Closed for maintenance does not mean closed forever. how long has this area been closed? Probably not very long. Nothing there says that the area will never return. nothing there requires paying anything to use the PDF Hammer Application when it returns.
