I'm on the free trial of your product and loving it, but as a paralegal I really do need to redact. Could you spell out my options if I go ahead and purchase now? When will the next version be released? Will it definitely have redaction? And what would my upgrade cost be?

1Redaction is very useful in pharmaceutical documents. Confidential parts need to be blacked out when providing the documents to other readers outside of the company. Therefore it is a very important feature to include in the pprogram.

1Redaction is more than just blacking out. The text values need to go away. In other words, if you cover it up, the text needs to become unsearchable non extractable, etc. It has to be the same effect as if you had taken a marker to it before it was scanned.

You can use text and button tools to black out an area and then save the file as a TIFF. Although this is not as convenient as a redaction feature it does work.
The Tiff can then be converted back to a PDF. Of course now it will be an image, but this does have the advantage that your text is not easily copied without OCR, -

I use Acrobat's PDF redact feature when I need to show examples of reports from my productions systems to prospective clients, while protecting the identity of existing clients. Simply setting the foreground and background color to black would not completely protect the existing customers' identities.
I really like Nitro PDF and I am about to move to Pro.

Can you add a Black Magic Marker Marke Out feature so one can black out text on any document and if you dont have this feature please add it to the free and pro version. I would appreciate a copy of the pro version for my idea thank you in advance.

Nitro 7 will definitely include redaction capabilities, during the purchase process you can select to add "upgrade assurance" to your shopping cart which will entitle you to the version 7 upgrade when it is released in a few months.
