Nitro Pro 7 does not start | BitDefender

Program does not start. Clicking on the exe does nothing. If I go into properties and click on some tabs (without making any changes), Nitro exe seems to 'wake up'. Clicking after this is usually successful. This is reaching such a point of annoyance that I find myself more frequently returning to Adobe. Nitro Pro 7.0.1.5, Win 7 - 64.

Nitro 7 Pro (7.0.1.5 running on Win 7, 64) will not start. This has been an intermittent problem since purchase. I have to go into properties, click a few tabs and for some reason, this seems to activate (or wake up) the exe. Then when I click on program, it will start. Weird but now finding myself returning to Adobe to avoid the nuisance.

    Hi There,

It would be great if I can confirm a few details with you Jim, this seems to be a slightly different issue to the other post you commented on and I would really like to look into this more with you.

Can I confirm a few more details with you.

    1. Out of the following which do you have installed ?
    Nitro Reader
    Nitro Pro 6
    Nitro Pro 7

    2. When you try and run Nitro Pro do any error message display?

    3. What antivirus or security software do you have installed ?

    4. What is your current operating system ?

    Many thanks,

    Alex

    Hi,

Installed: Nitro Pro 7.0.1.5. Historically, I may have had Nitro 6 reader.

No error messages. Most of the time, clicking on the exe or a shortcut to the exe results in nothing - nothing happens, absolutely nothing.

I use Bitdefender. Since problem is intermittant and I can get Nitro to open by clicking on a variety of 'properties' items, Bitdefender doesn't seem to be a problem.

Operating System is Windows 6 - 64 bit.

Thanks. I look forward to hearing a solution,

    Jim

    Hi Jim,

Bit Defender has been known to cause issues with Nitro Pro, often this will result in an error on start up and a crash screen, alternatively sometimes nothing will display.

It would be great if I could get you to try the following.

    1. In Bit Defender's configuration window, click on the Antivirus tab.

    2. Click on Advanced Settings, then click the button with the plus symbol.

    3. Add NitroPDF.exe as shown in the screenshot below.

Nitro Pro will now run without being blocked by Bit Defender. Does this resolve the issue ?

    Cheers,

    Alex

    Alex,

You seem to have the solution. I have been testing for several days after applying the Bitdender settings you provided. I have not had any more start up problems. Issue resolved.

    Thank you very much,

    Jim
