Cannot saved file with redacted content. File is damaged with lines

I When I redact content, I am unable to save a readable file. I apply the redactions and then save the file. No error messages appear at that time. However, when I go to open it again, horizontal lines appear all over the page. When I open with another pdf reader, it gives me the error message "Insufficient data for an image". I am currently using the free trial to see if I should buy this, if that makes any difference. What is wrong?
