As far as I can see, Nitro PDF Reader only allows me to open documents in separate TABS, no separate WINDOWS. I often need to compare documents side-by-side.
When I do this with other programs (e.g., MS Word), I can just open a new version of Word and arrange the windows side-by-side (or use tiling options). Nitro doesn't allow me to open a separate version. If there's a tiling feature or new WINDOWS option, I don't see it.
This problem makes it very impractical for me to use Nitro, even though I like it in so many other ways.

Just an update, a request has been put through to our developers to implement this feature to allow users to open multiple Nitro windows.

We do not support opening multiple windows however you can view documents side-by-side by right-clicking on the document tab > New Vertical Tab Group.
Note: If you are trying to compare two files with the same filename, you will not be allowed to open both in Nitro Reader. In order to do this, you will need to rename one of the other files before opening it up.

I just found a workaround for viewing PDF files side by side on multiple monitors
Steps:
1) open both files in nitro pdf (only one instance of nitro PDF can be open at a time)
2) view documents side-by-side by right-clicking on the document tab > New Vertical Tab Group.
3) stretch Nitro PDF window across both monitors
4) you are now able to enjoy side by side viewing with one instance of Nitro PDF. -

Provide the Option to launch pdfs in separate windows instead of tabs in same window. Useful to compare side by side docs.

it would be even better to have a compare option -- for digitally created PDFs, you can overlay them and show only the changed text / graphics, while the unchanged data is faded out -- it's a brilliant option for checking what updates have been made with revisions.

Is it possible to open 2 pdf files in 2 separate windows instead of just multiple tabs in the same window? Thanks for your help!

I'll second kris.treagus movement. We are a technology software development team and are constantly making changes to PDFs as well as web documentation. We adopted Nitro Pro in preference to the Adobe line for price and usability. Having comparison of two documents with the changes highlighted would be wonderful!

I agree with the above comments. I work for a company that uses Nitro Pro rather than Adobe Pro. At a company I used to work for, I used Adobe Pro, and with it I could always compare PDF docs effectively. With Nitro, it's a huge pain.
Yes, I know you can open vertical tab groups, but then the documents are too small to read efficiently. And yes, I know you can stretch the window across the screen, but that's a big pain as well bc I'm often switching between MS Word docs and PDF docs when I'm working and I hate having one program taking up both my monitors. Plus, it's just hard to read across two monitors. Honestly, this needs to be fixed or Nitro's going to lose business. -

I did find one workaround btw that helps. If you have one document open in Nitro PDF Pro, you can right click on another PDF that you wish to open and then go to "Open With" and select Adobe Reader (that is, if you've installed Adobe Reader on your computer).
Still, it's silly that this is necessary. Get with it Nitro ...-
Nice one, Mark! Thanks!

Same here. I really like Nitro reader. But not able to have multiple windows/instance really pushed me away.
Now I have to go back to Adobe reader... -

This side-by-side view of two PDF documents feature is critical. It's been driving me nuts trying to find a solution. Happily there is a workaround but, please, it needs to be implemented officially. It seems odd that nothing has happened in the 12 months since this discussion started.

This is a quick P.S. to my earlier post (directly above). The instructions given by Binh Pham at the beginning of this thread didn't work for me (I have no "Document" tab). I then realized that this forum is probably for the free Nitro PDF reader.
I have Nitro Professional (paid for) version; the side-by-side is not available in that version either.
Happily, the instructions provided by Mark B. work like a dream ... except that I've had to reinstall Adobe Reader. Small price to pay.
Looking forward to an "official" solution from Nitro. :-) -

No point in upgrading to the new Nitro version if they haven't fixed this.
