sad I’m frustrated

Adobe Reader 10.1.2 won't open after PromoPDF installed.

Adobe Reader 10.1.2 works fine for any current PDF documents that i have from whatever source including PrimoPDF 'printed' files from before today. Today, I installed PrimoPDF. Reader wouldn't start after that either on its own or by double clicking on a PDF document. I get the message window, 'Adobe Reader has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.' After uninstalling PrimoPDF, Reader works again. I'm running Windows XP, 32 bit.

    Hi George,

I'm unsure why this has occurred however from time to time applications can become corrupt, there is an easy way to resolve this however. I have placed these steps below, let me know how you go and if you need further assistance.

    1. Navigate to windows Control Panel

    2. Click Uninstal a program (Win7 & Vista) or Add/Remove Program (WinXP)

    3. Locate Adobe Reader and select it

    4. Click Change

    5. When the install/uninstall window displays you will be able to select Repair

    6. Follow the prompts to complete a repair on your installation, this should resolve any issues within Adobe Reader.

    Cheers,

    Alex

I have had the same problem and have tried to "Repair" or reinstall both programs with no prevail. In addition to the error message I get, now when I try to "print/create" a new PDF the software seems to stall. Not that it freezes my computer or anything. It just doesn't do anything when I click on the "create" button. I can click it 10 times and nothing will happen.

I really like PrimoPDF, but if I can't get it to work properly again I will have find a new program to use.

    • 1. I can open both
      2. I have repaired Adobe and Office, re-installed PrimoPDF
      3. When using Primo as a printer, it will go through the "printing" process, but when the Primo window opens and you click on "create" nothing happens. However, if you drag a file to the Primo desktop shortcut, it creates the PDF without a problem.
      4. I've had Primo on my computer for quite a long time. Within the last couple of weeks is when the issues started.

      Hopefully this all makes sense.

      Hi Jaime,

Sounds like your having a different issue, it would be great if we could try and remove any previous settings that could be causing this.

If you can navigate to the following directory and delete PrimoSet.xml , you can do this simply by pasting the directory into the address bar in explorer.
      %appdata%\primopdf\

      Cheers,

      Alex

    happy I’m good.
The solution that Alex provided worked for me. Starting with a working installation of Adobe Reader X, I installed PrimoPDF, Adobe Reader, no longer worked. I ran the repair process outlined by Alex , and now I can print from programs to a PDF on my Desktop, for example.

    Thanks,
    George
