Adding headers on rotated pages - Header placed in the footer location

After opening a scanned file containg A3 & A4 size pages, I am:
1) rotating pages that needs to be rotated,
2) adding page headers / footer
Then on the preview, the rotated A3 pages comes with the header at the bottom and footer on the top - and the rotated A4 pages the header is in the L/H margin.
What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Pall,

It would be great if you could submit the file you are working with so I can replicate what you are doing on your end here and test if this is the expected behaviour.

If you are able to upload the file please address this to myself and include this threads subject in the message feild

    Cheers,

    Alex

The file was up-loaded via the link above (dropbox) - the file name is: 0324 BRASS ABLAZE - I got a reciept by e-mail saying: We have received your file: 0324 BRASS ABLAZE.pdf (1).

I'm experiencing this problem too, and its not just for rotated pages, it also applies to cropped pages, or pdfs containing pages of different sizes. The header can sometimes be offset on certain pages or missing entirely.

    Hi Guys,

I am trying to replicate this on my end but having trouble in re-creating the issue. Once I am able to re-create what you are describing I can pass this through to our engineering team and get a fix in place for you both.

ppjoensen I have looked at your file and been able to see what you are talking about but unable to create this, can I confirm with you that you did not apply the header/footer and rotate, but rather applied the header prior to rotation ?

If you are able to supply me with the original document, prior to editing and rotating, and also a list of the exact steps you take this would be much appreciated.

For example, the steps could be, and I presume, start like this. Go to the 'Pages' tab and click on page 2, rotate 90 degrees, click the 'Edit' tab, click 'Header & Footer' apply header.

It would also help if you can provide me with a copy of the Header/Footer you are applying, you are able to go into Header & Footer, selecting Manager Headers & Footers, and then 'Export'. If you are able to submit the npx file I will be able to replicate the conditions exactly.

dchiang If you are able to supply me with the following I would love to look into the issues you have described:

    1. Copy of the original file

    2. Copy of the incorrect finished file

    3. List of precise instruction that you follow to generate this file.

    4. A copy of the Header & Footers used to replicate, you can export this through Manage Headers & Footers.

*All files can be submitted through our dropbox account, please ensure you address these files to myself.

Cheers, thank you both for your help on this.

    Alex
    • Hi Alex

I have included 3 files for your review and submitted them through your dropbox account.

      1. NitroHeaderTestOriginal (This is the original pdf file with various pages that have been formatted differently)
      2. NitroHeaderScreenshot (This is a screenshot of the header settings to be applied)
      3. NitroHeaderTestWithHeader (This is the resulting pdf with the header settings applied)

Here are my notes for the last document going by page number:

      Pg1 - Header OK
Pg2 - Page was originally inserted into the document as a landscape letter page and then rotated to portrait. - Header Missing.
Pg3 - This page was originally a single 11x17 page together with Pg4, but now with the right half cropped out. - Header OK.
Pg4 - This page was originally a single 11x17 page together with Pg3, but now with the left half cropped out. - Header Missing.
Pg5 - Page was originally inserted into the document as a landscape letter page - Header Missing.
      Pg6 - Header OK.
Pg7 - Page was originally inserted as a portrait A4 page. - Header is misaligned.

      Hope this helps.

      Hi There,

Thank you for those files, I have been able to replicate exactly what you have described. I've submitted this through to our Engineering team to look at further, it would appear that somehow we are determining the placement position incorrectly as I have been able to tell that some are being placed onto the document however off the viewable space, while others have failed to be placed.

I will keep you posted when we identify the cause and a fix, thanks for your help!

      Cheers,

      Alex

    Hi Guys,

This issue has been resolved through an internal beta version. We will be releasing this fix in our next release, please ensure you update when this becomes available.

You can do this directly through the application under 'Help' and 'Check for updates' or through our Download Area when it becomes available.

    Cheers,

    Alex
    • Hi Alex,

Just wanted to update you regarding this issue on the newest version of Nitro Pro (7.2.0.12) which was released today.

From a couple minutes of testing, here's what I've found so far:

      1) Cropping of a regular letter sized portrait page works, the header applied will re-adjust based on the cropped margins, however this offset adjustment carries over to all other pages, even though I've only applied the cropping to the first page of the document.
      2) If a rotated or cropped page from another document is inserted into the existing document, the header does not appear correctly (either misaligned, or missing entirely).
      3) It seems that headers are applied correctly only to pages that were rotated or cropped within the original document, but not for pages manipulated outside and later inserted.

Was 7.2.0.12 supposed to address all these issues? or is there another version in the pipeline that will fix them?

      Thanks

      Hi There,

Unfortunately we didn't manage to include these changes in Nitro Pro 7.2, these are aimed to be included within Nitro Pro 7.3 at this stage, we are just waiting for our Quality Assurance team to complete final testing.

We should be looking to release Nitro Pro 7.3 shortly however.

      Thanks for your patience,

      Alex
